Title: Scottish Oat Cakes

1 1/4cSugar
2cRolled oats
2cFlour
1tsBaking powder
1tsSalt
1 1/4cShortening
1/2tsBaking soda
1/2cBoiling water
2cBran flakes

Add soda to boiling water and let stand until cool. Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, bran flakes, rolled oats and sugar. Cut in shortening; add water and soda. Roll outthin on a floured board. Bake in hot oven until golden brown.
